To create campus programming, training, and initiatives to foster development and support networks for minority populations on campus. This will include working closely with faculty, staff, and students across campus to engage others in educational and social programs. Dalton State College Sub-Populations are inclusive of, but not limited to, Hispanic/Latinx, Veterans, Commuter Students, African Americans, LGBTQIQ, etc. Position Requirements: All applicants must have or will complete a baccalaureate degree before their start date. It is also preferred (not required) that candidates for this position be bilingual and fluent in both Spanish and English (verbal and written).

Member Duties : Develop campus programming, training, and initiatives to foster development and support networks for minority populations on campus. Recruit, supervise, and develop the JEDI Leaders program. The goal of JEDI Leaders would be to help champion, lead, and sustain diversity initiatives. This includes: Sparking dialogue about justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion; facilitating education, programs and outreach initiatives related to social justice and identity; increasing students’ awareness and cultural competence; providing opportunities to develop effective cross-cultural communication skills. This VISTA will also have oversight and management of the Las Familias Unidas Latino-focused family engagement program. This initiative is aimed to educate the community on collegiate/educational expectations and financial awareness and continuously increase the involvement of Latino families with DSC. This ongoing program will interact with DSC students and their families in a cohort format.
