21-22 UCA Education and Volunteer Coordinator
 
 
 
Serving with The Crest at Willow-Witt Ranch just outside of Ashland, Oregon, a non-profit dedicated to the conservation and restoration of the unique ecosystem in the Southern Cascades, and the headwaters, wetlands, and forests that arise there, The Education and Volunteer Program Leader will work in implementing curriculum, training instructors and volunteers, and will coordinate Out Door School and environmental education programs at The Crest. The AmeriCorps member will help our young nonprofit recruit and cultivate volunteers, develop, and maintain a volunteer management database, and will build program capacity around volunteer mobilization. They will bring the support of organizations, groups, individuals, and schools to our work by cultivating awareness of our mission and programs. Direct work with the volunteers and students recruited and with employees on the property will be an important part of the position. United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) engages members in meaningful service to meet critical needs in SW Oregon. UCA projects improve access to community programs in project focus areas of Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, and Environmental Stewardship. Members engage clients in their dedicated service project, and then use their experience to recruit, retain, and support community volunteers. Members serve full-time for 11 months, totaling 1,700 hours for the term of service. Our positions have benefits (education award, monthly stipend, training opportunities, etc). Member Duties : Work with the curriculum committee on Out Door School (ODS), participate in interviewing and hiring of teachers for ODS, recruit school classes for the programs, obtain supplies and materials needed for this program, oversee the programs. Write the monthly Newsletter. Develop core of the Standard Operating Procedures for current programs. Assist with marketing summer day care camps as well as anticipated overnight educational camps for 2022. Develop database, forms, and policies for volunteer recruitment, management, and maintenance, including risk assessment, role descriptions, and progress assessment tools. Maintain database of community organizations that support and work with volunteer groups. Reach out to and speak to community organizations and schools to recruit support and volunteer. Develop service learning programs for students of all ages in the environmental conservation programs of The Crest.
