CoF FRC Reentry Program Associate VISTA
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps VISTA program in Fairbanks is housed through the City of Fairbanks (CoF). This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, for 1 year. VISTAs receive a monthly living allowance of $1,333 which is paid bi-weekly. At the end of service, they also have the choice between an education award of $6,345 or a cash stipend of $1,800. The VISTA will work directly at the Fairbanks Reentry Coalition. The Reentry Program Associate will help build the Fairbanks Reentry Coalition’s capacity to support increased anti-poverty and anti-opioid programming for returning citizens (community members returning from incarceration). The VISTA will assist the coalition in strengthening the continuum of care for reentrants with a history or risk of opioid use disorder. The VISTA will also assist the coalition in developing a Bridges Out of Poverty program for returning citizens. The VISTA will seek out sustainable funding and conduct community outreach to build capacity for both programs.

Member Duties : The Reentry Program Associate at Fairbanks Reentry Coalition will be given the opportunity to join a team of community agencies, staff and volunteers to address the barriers and service gaps for returning citizens. The coalition’s anti-poverty and anti-opioid programs are designed to help returning citizens regain independence and reduce recidivism. The VISTA will help develop programs to help clients escape poverty and opioid addiction. The VISTA duties will include: 1. Research anti-opioid programming best practices for returning citizens 2. Assist the Reentry Work Groups develop new programs or services to address identified gaps 3. Assist in grant writing as applicable to build financial capacity for the programs 4. Assist with the development of the organizational marketing plan 5. Develop a social media campaign for the Fairbanks Reentry Coalition 6. Assist with the Fairbanks Reentry Coalition website development 7. Organize outreach events to build capacity for coalition members
