CoF NHC Development Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps VISTA program in Fairbanks is housed through the City of Fairbanks (CoF). This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, for 1 year. VISTAs receive a monthly living allowance of $1,333 which is paid bi-weekly. At the end of service, they also have the choice between an education award of $6,345 or a cash stipend of $1,800. The VISTA will work directly at Northern Hope Center. The primary goal for the Development Coordinator VISTA position is to increase the Northern Hope Center’s (NHC) organizational capacity and sustainability. NHC is the only drop in center in the community for people suffering from mental illness. The Northern Hope Center is member led and operated with over 60% of the board having a diagnosed mental illness. NHC is known in the community for providing valuable peer support services that assist members achieve long-term stability and financial independence. With a small full-time staff and limited budget, the VISTA’s role is integral to help create policies and procedures and increase financial capacity through grant writing and fundraising efforts.The Development Coordinator VISTA will identify, recommend, and seek out new sources of revenue for the NHC to strengthen the mission and long-term sustainability of the organization.

Member Duties : The main objectives of the Development Coordinator VISTA will be to expand the organizational capacity and long-term financial sustainability of Northern Hope Center. The activities for this position will include: 1. Identify and create a list of recommended training needed to implement the peer-support programming improvements 2. Coordinate peer-support training and “train the trainer” courses to ensure the required training is sustainable beyond the VISTA term 3. Research effective fundraising practices 4. Create a list of recommended fundraising activities 5. Research effective donor solicitation and relationship development strategies and make recommendations 6. Develop targeted donor list 7. Produce a donor engagement strategy
