Historic Parkrose Community Engagement Liaison - MCNW

Historic Parkrose, located in Portland, Oregon, strengthens community vibrancy through equity and economic opportunity. Our community is an urban neighborhood on Northeast Portland’s urban fringe. The VISTA member placed at our agency will continue assisting the development of flexible pathways for houseless and housing-insecure residents to reach income stability. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Historic Parkrose VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by engaging business, nonprofit, youth, resident, and houseless stakeholders to devise district-level solutions to help houseless and housing-insecure residents out of poverty. The member will create documents and internal processes to systematically train volunteers and gather input from district stakeholders, and recruit partners for a network of collaborating service providers. Finally, the VISTA will help establish a series of career discovery and new job readiness workshops for low-income youth of color. As a Historic Parkrose VISTA, you will be part of a larger cohort of AmeriCorps VISTA members coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Early applications strongly encouraged. Selections for this role are made on a rolling basis.

VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service.
