City of Austin TARA Digital Literacy VISTA
 
 
 
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA project works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA project work in such diverse fields as education, health, transportation, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Develop resource guides for digital literacy programs that focuses on improving digital literacy skills for adult participants, ensuring that the program principles align with the City of Austin’s Strategic Direction and prepares participants to participate in digital society. Identify partnership opportunities with other City of Austin Departments, non-profit and community organizations, universities and generate expanded partnerships to sustain long-term operational support. : Cultivate expanded partnerships with Digital Empowerment Community, and other relevant stakeholders to sustain long-term operational support. Develop virtual information for potential partners and sponsors of the Digital Empowerment Community of Austin (DECA). Develop presentations to highlight key values of DECA. Curate research opportunities with universities and other research firms to demonstrate how digital access and digital literacy impacts community stability in areas experiencing gentrification.
