2022 UMB CURE Scholars Program

The UMB CURE Scholars program has worked over the last six years to provide enriching experiences for students from the West Baltimore neighborhoods, with the long-term goal of producing future healthcare and research professionals. To ensure students have gained the technical and professional skills to be successful in their collegiate and career pursuits, the UMB CURE Scholars Career Navigators VISTA will develop a robust program that includes career mentorship, academic support, college/university application guidance, professional development workshops, and internship opportunities. During Year 2 our UMB CURE Scholars Career Navigators AmeriCorps VISTA will work alongside the Program Manager for Scholar Success to support the upper high school grades. The UMB CURE Career Navigators Program will work to provide career and professional opportunities that are aligned to scholars’ career interests. Specifically, the VISTA member will support the programmatic aspects of Career Navigators (i..e curriculum development, professional development series), while supporting school scholars and families in their application to colleges/universities, trade programs, and financial aid.
