Maryland MENTOR School Based Mentoring Support VISTA

We believe that in order to expand mentoring relationships to as many of the young people in Maryland and DC as possible, strong partnerships are needed between Maryland MENTOR and the school districts across the State. To that end, Maryland MENTOR has started, as the first of many, partnerships with Baltimore City Public Schools and Montgomery County Public Schools. The object is to expand quality mentoring across these districts, including continuing support of the recently launched Future Ready Career Mentoring Program pilot in conjunction with Baltimore City Public Schools during the 2020-2021 school year, but will also include new support work beginning in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools. This ambitious work will not be possible without the high-level support from an excited, capable AmeriCorps VISTA member. We hope that is YOU! Skills/Qualities: Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented. Strong verbal and written communication skills; especially presentation skills. High level computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office products, database administration, and website administration preferred. Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to multitask and execute in a fast-paced environment with sometimes shifting priorities. Entrepreneurial, self-starter. Desire to positively impact equity, especially racial equity in all your work.
