GSCM- Volunteer & Community Outreach
The Vista Member will assist in the development and structure of an agency wide Volunteer Management and Stewardship System. The program will enable the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland to expand opportunities to serve and learn to a wider audience. We strive to engage parents, guardians and citizens of Baltimore City, Baltimore County and pockets of our surrounding counties that have economically disadvantaged communities, whose daughters are GS members, but parents are not involved in the management, oversight, and programs of the GSCM because of a lack of invitation, accessibility and knowledge on how to be actively engaged in civic participation. The Vista will build capacity by developing virtual portals, offering training on-line and model access by visiting communities and audiences we seek to engage. The vision for the VISTA’s efforts is that they will move people out of poverty by exposing them to new associates, creating options for networking for adults, creating community impact projects that support Silver or Bronze Award projects; linking the volunteers to community resources and identifying personal strengths by documenting their volunteer assignments, completing a pre and post interview with newly recruited and trained volunteers and incorporating in our model ways to enhance skills and knowledge of our volunteers, and securing in-kind and financial support for special events or community service projects.
