GSCM Hardford County Community Troop Project

The Community Troop Coordinator will help promote gender equity and provide access to girls who otherwise would not be exposed to high quality enrichment opportunities. This special troop formation initiative seeks to match girls from disadvantaged and underserved communities in Aberdeen and Joppatowne, both along the Route 40/I95 corridor. Through identified adult role models and leaders the VISTA member will develop opportunities for fun with a purpose at troop meetings, field trips and program events, and inspire young women to imagine and chart a new path for a bright successful future. These two communities present great challenges and opportunities as the needs assessment demonstrates. This initiative will also assist in identifying resources that may support camp attendance or supplies needed by the troops after they are formed and operating.
