GSCM Baltimore County Community Troop Project
The Community Troop Coordinator will help promote gender equity and provide access to girls who otherwise would not be exposed to high quality enrichment opportunities. This special troop formation initiative seeks to match girls from disadvantaged and underserved communities in Dundalk, Essex and Middle River, with adult role models and leaders who will provide opportunities for fun with a purpose at troop meetings, field trips and program events, and inspire them to imagine and chart a new path for a bright successful future. These three communities present great challenges and opportunities, as outlined in the community needs assessment. In year two of this initiative, the VISTA member will build upon the progress of year one, and incorporate post-covid-compliant activities into the opportunities that can be made available to troops, as well as secure supplies, and financial support for field trips or camp.
