PROGRAM: The VT Youth Tomorrow AmeriCorps VISTA Program supports initiatives helping low-income youth & families develop job skills & academic proficiency, build connection to their community, access health & mental health care, find housing, become food secure, and connect with essential services needed to transcend poverty, avoid unhealthy behaviors, reverse the impacts of COVID-19, and ultimately thrive. Website: www.vermontyouthamericorps.org SITE: The Community Engagement Lab brings people of all ages together in projects that activate their creativity to imagine and build more just and thriving communities. We engage communities across Vermont, and our programs include the following: Project Design Lab, VT Mural Project, Watershed Project, Teaching Artist Academies, One World Festival of Arts & Imagination, and Vermont Community Learning Network. The VISTA promotes the overall mission and programs of the organization, collaborating and engaging directly with youth and educators. The VISTA builds the Lab’s capacity to engages with low-income youth in Vermont schools through innovative community-based education and experiences, including the Vermont Mural Project. COVID-19: Initially we ceased programming and then pivoted programming that met safety guidelines. Many low-income Vermonters have been hardest hit during the pandemic. The VISTA’s service enhances our operations and all programming to reach low-income rural youth. Location: Montpelier, VT

Member Duties : The VYT-CEL Community Engagement VISTA builds the capacity of the Community Engagement Lab in the following ways: (1) develop and enhances policies, programming, fundraising, partnership development, strategy, and administrative efficiency; (2) improves and manages the infrastructure needed to communicate internally and externally on all programming initiatives and development efforts; and (3) actively participate in strategic planning around initiatives and internal systems. Minimum Age: 20. Travel: access to car to meet with partners across VT and travel to monthly VISTA training in Montpelier, VT. Send cover letter, resume, and contact information for 3 references.
