TSC VISTA 2021: Catholic Charities of Buffalo
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : Catholic Charities of Buffalo is a Catholic sponsored human service agency serving anyone in need in the eight counties of Western New York. Catholic Charities of Buffalo works to empower individuals, children, and families to achieve and maintain meaningful and healthy lives within their communities. Directly impacting poverty, Catholic Charities is an advocate for those in need by assessing and meeting specific needs of our community members. The VISTA Volunteer Specialist will promote community involvement in the Foster Grandparent Program through outreaching, speaking, and recruitment engagements, with the goal of enrolling new clients or volunteers. The VISTA member will also facilitate new volunteer orientation, create flyers for upcoming events and conduct site visits to follow up on volunteer’s progress. The VISTA member will eventually enroll 35 new Foster Grandparent Volunteers by the end of their service year.
