TSC VISTA 2021: ConnectHome Akron
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : The Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority provides quality, affordable housing as a platform to develop people, property and community. AMHA provides affordable housing options to approximately 10,000 households throughout Summit County. The Digital Inclusion VISTA will work within AMHA’s partnership with ConnectHome, a national public-private collaboration developed to narrow the digital divide and lift residents out of poverty by bringing affordable broadband access, electronic devices, technical training and other digital literacy programs to residents of HUD-assisted housing. They will also play a vital role in building staff and organizational capacity to establish both financial literacy and digital literacy programming for clients. The VISTA will be responsible for coordinating the ConnectHome initiatives and growing the program through curriculum development, grant writing, volunteer program development, recruitment and development of policies and procedures.
