Member Duties : The Western New York Land Conservancy is a nonprofit land trust that protects land with significant conservation value in Western New York (WNY) for future generations. We envision a future in which open spaces, wildlife habitat, working lands, and scenic beauty are cherished and protected. The VISTA Community Training Specialist will support the Concept and Schematic Design phase of The Riverline, a proposed nature trail and greenway in Buffalo on an unused railway that connects Canalside downtown to the Buffalo River. The VISTA will implement community outreach and programming, develop grant applications, environmental education, volunteer and stewardship activities for the community conservation strategy. The member will be an integral part of the Development and Communications team, coordinating and communicating with internal and external partners and stakeholders in the project, including people living in the target neighborhoods with consistently high poverty rates.
