Eco3.21 Mentor North Organizational Capacity Building VISTA
 
 
 
Mentor North provides high quality one-on-one community based mentoring programming based on the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring (4th Ed.). Mentor North supports four programs: Mentor Duluth, Mentor Superior, Five Points, and Mutual Mentoring. The Mentor North Organizational and Capacity Building VISTA will lead Mentor North's initiatives on mentor recruitment to make high quality, community based mentoring relationships. The position will lead recruitment efforts and will engage prospective and new mentors for training and onboarding. The VISTA will also have the opportunity to build and maintain a new mentoring initiative - Club Mentoring. The VISTA's work will ultimately focus on breaking generational poverty by coordinating meaningful community connections through mentor relationships. The VISTA member will be part of the Ecolibrium3 AmeriCorps VISTA cohort serving in northeastern Minnesota. Although each member is serving in a unique position, all cohort members will participate in VISTA specific activities such as regular cohort meetings, collaborative projects, professional development opportunities, and trainings. Additionally, cohort members will jointly complete one community service project of their cooperative design.

Member Duties : The Mentor North Organizational and Capacity Building VISTA will lead Mentor North's initiatives on mentor recruitment to make high quality, community based mentoring relationships that specifically address low-income youth. The VISTA will have three overarching objectives: 1) Recruit new mentors for the community based programs by intentionally reaching out to clubs, organizations, colleges, and businesses 2) Create and build the Club Mentoring initiative that connects group mentoring opportunities to waitlist youth, and 3) Facilitate incoming mentors screening and application processes and coordinate mentor training initiatives.
