22-23 World Relief Digital Literacy Specialist

World Relief is the largest refugee resettlement agency in Western Washington and has served tens of thousands of refugees, asylees and immigrants in the Seattle area since 1979. As refugees and immigrants arrive in their new communities, they bring resilience, courage, talents, and dreams, but face immense challenges of understanding a new culture, learning English, navigating systems, finding affordable housing, and providing for their families. At World Relief Western Washington, we come alongside these new neighbors by providing support and care through their first months and years of transition. This support includes case management, orientation to American culture and systems, job placement assistance, English language classes, skills development training, housing assistance, immigration legal services, advocacy, youth programming, mutually-transformative relationships with community volunteers, and more. World Relief Seattle envisions every refugee and immigrant welcomed by community, rooted in community, and empowered for community. In our extensive work with new arrivals, we have observed that digital literacy and technology access are absolutely critical for newcomers to be able to find employment, learn new skills, assist their children in school, protect themselves from scams and fraud, and integrate into the community. The AmeriCorps Digital Literacy Specialist will enhance our holistic support services by providing essential digital literacy training and tech support to assist recently arrived refugees and immigrants along their path to job readiness, economic self-sufficiency, and community integration.
