UWNI Idaho for Healthy Roots VISTA Project Leader

United Way of North Idaho is the lead project sponsor for the Idaho for Healthy Roots Education and Economic Opportunity VISTA Project. At UWNI, we aim to ensure children succeed in school, individuals live healthy lives, and everyone has the opportunity to achieve financial well-being. The Idaho for Healthy Roots project takes this holistic vision and puts it into action through capacity-building at host sites across the state including United Way of Southeast Idaho, United Way of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, the Lincoln County Youth Center, the Human Rights Education Institute, the Coeur d'Alene School District, Gizmo-CDA Makerspace, the Saint Vincent de Paul Envision Center, and Family Promise of North Idaho and Family Promise of the Palouse. As a VISTA Leader, your role with the Idaho for Healthy Roots project will be to support our VISTA members so they can do their best work at their various service sites and promote collaboration and team-building within the project. This looks like ensuring each VISTA has connected with and understands AmeriCorps service benefits, providing mentorship and guidance as they navigate their professional development and challenges at site, and connecting them with professional development opportunities and resources both as individuals and as a team. You will also support site supervisors in their navigation of the AmeriCorps online recruitment website and offer program feedback to improve the overall project.

Member Duties : You will be our VISTA members' cheerleader and mentor, encouraging them to complete reports in a timely fashion and providing monthly check-ins to ensure they have access to the support and professional development they need to succeed at their host sites. You will help them problem-solve challenges and conflicts that may arise at their sites. Beyond this, you will ensure the sustainability of our reporting and recruitment systems and suggest improvements to the projects based on VISTA member feedback and experience. At UWNI, you will build our capacity by building systems to support our outreach to our target ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) population through further development of the ALICE Task Force network, resource lists and integration with other service lists.
