"The AmeriCorps member serving at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) will build capacity by providing valuable support and resources to the BFIT students which will aid them in successfully completing their studies as they embark on their career. Using creativity, research, and outreach, the AmeriCorps member will identify resources and partnerships that assist students in overcoming identified barriers to college completion such as food and housing insecurity, childcare resources, and career readiness guides, which allow support them as they transition to their careers. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $1027.88 in Suffolk county. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to free or reduced courses, professional development (conferences), public transportation passes, and access to professional development & training opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at BFIT will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year.
