COCI - GEMS VISTA Support Specialist 2021-2022

Cherish Our Children Inc is creating brighter futures for the children of incarcerated parents in Houston, Texas. Children who have had a parent in prison experience trauma, shame and crushing poverty. It puts them at risk of dropping out and winding up in prison themselves. GEMS - Gaining Empowerment in Middle School works to give these middle schoolers the same opportunity to succeed as their fellow students. Our students attend in-school classes to build social, emotional, and cognitive skills. They gain positive role models to open doors and broaden their horizons. GEMS also connects parents and caregivers with necessary services, ensuring students receive all-around support during this difficult period of their lives. As a part of the GEMS team, you can help rewrite the future for some of our most vulnerable students!
