CASA of Collin County Development Coordinator VISTA

CASA of Collin County located in McKinney, TX, promotes and protects the best interests of children who have been abused and neglected by training volunteer advocates to improve the child’s quality of life and lift their voice within the court system to ensure they are placed in a safe, permanent, and loving home. Since 1991, CASA of Collin County has provided well-trained volunteers to advocate in court for the best interest of over 12,000 children in foster care in Collin County. For 30 years, CASA of Collin County has recruited, trained, and supported volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). CASAs are appointed by the District Judges to serve as the Guardian ad Litem advocating for children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect and placed into the child welfare system. CASA of Collin County provides a rigorous 35-hour training course to new volunteers and has an ongoing training requirement of 12-hours per year for volunteers. A CASA volunteer is assigned to a Volunteer Coordinator on staff who provides supervision, coordination, and guidance during all phases of casework. CASAs provide valuable information to the courts to make sure the children’s best interests and needs are being met. The VISTA Development Coordinator will help build CASA of Collin County’s capacity by executing a comprehensive and sustainable development plan including grant writing, donor and community engagement, outreach, targeted volunteer recruitment, and the creation of a resource database to better assist Collin County families.
