Youth Engagement Officer - VISTA

Milwaukee Succeeds was launched by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. The Greater Milwaukee Foundation serves as the backbone organization for Milwaukee Succeeds—lending its facilities, administrative services, financial resources, and community leadership to this initiative. Our partnership consists of representatives from over 300 local organizations, collaborating to transform systems for all children in the City of Milwaukee. Our Strategic Objective (thru 2023) is to share decision-making power with those most impacted while centering racial justice to accelerate education equity. Milwaukee Succeeds unites our partners around a commitment to support strategies that will achieve our shared vision of success to advance Strive's four principles of collective impact: Shared Community Vision, Evidence-Based Decision Making, Collaborative Action, and Investment and Sustainability. High School Success is a new priority area for Milwaukee Succeeds and we are actively developing our specific strategies and tactics for the next 3 years. Our preliminary strategies include the following: • Grow and support a diverse local coalition to collectively identify and meet the needs of Black male youth with a unified force • Increase access to equitable community governance structures for youth • Increase access and exposure to living-wage jobs and careers for youth The Youth Engagement Officer will work directly with the School Partnerships and Initiatives Manager to coordinate, design, and implement projects and workstreams aligned to our growing strategies. Through our new strategic plan, the scope of our goals is focused on developing a citywide strategy to support Black male youth. This includes actively shifting power to those with lived experiences and providing youth with the space to rethink high school education and interrogate solutions to the education space's shortcomings in Milwaukee in order to address systemic educational inequity.
