NYS Digital Communications for the Aging Project VISTA

This VISTA assignment is part of the New York State COVID-19 Response VISTA project which builds the capacity of state agencies to serve vulnerable New Yorkers who are dealing with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) is the host site. NYSOFA's mission is to support older adults and their caregivers in staying healthy and safe in their community of choice. The VISTA member will be provided with training and research materials regarding aging and human services and will have an opportunity to meet with staff to learn about NYSOFA's communication processes. This introduction will provide valuable insight into a state government agency and its practices, values and goals. The VISTA member may conduct almost all tasks including training entirely remotely. If extent feasible later in 2021 under state and agency mandates, the VISTA member may also optionally work from a work desk at the NYSOFA offices in Albany. Desired Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications or Nonprofit Administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Member Duties : • Attend WebNY training to learn content creation in drupal-based framework • Develop an understanding of caregiver portal usage researching other organizations • Harvest and organize data & content from the United Hospital Fund Next Step in Care Website • Work with Communications & Caregiving Programmatic Staff to wireframe the portal • Use the WebNY drupal-based framework, build the caregiver portal • Develop a template and organizational structure for digital media campaigns • Develop outreach and advocacy plan to promote the campaign • Conduct stakeholder meetings to get feedback for improvements • Develop evergreen digital content • Create promotional materials
