Everybody Wins! Iowa Summer AmeriCorps VISTA
 
 
 
The EWI Summer VISTA will be assisting with a new pilot program as part of the Summer Meal programs in the counties EWI serves (Polk, Dallas, and Warren). The VISTA will also research and develop new training in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for staff and volunteers. VISTA will implement new book inventory and research DEI resources and help determine standards for book carts and student book giveaways as well as researching new resources to implement with students. VISTA will also help develop outreach research for recruiting new mentors. Ongoing assistance with program evaluation data to assist with program sustainability.

Member Duties : 1. Coordinating a new pilot program in conjunction with community Summer Meal Meet-ups providing books and other resources to children and updating community Little Libraries. 2. Researching and developing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for staff, board, and mentors. 3. Implementing new inventory system for book and curriculum and determining (DEI) standards for schools and program sites based on student enrollment. 4. Researching literacy resources that the program could implement with our Power Read student participants and their mentors. 5. Researching, providing outreach, and recruiting new groups of new reading mentoring volunteers. 6. Collecting program evaluation data to assist with program sustainability
