Gateway Dance Theatre Community Arts & Culture VISTA
Gateway Dance Theatre (GDT) collaborates with nonprofits and public educational institutions whose target populations for services are the underrepresented and underserved. All GDT projects and activities are focused on fostering public health through the arts in disadvantaged populations and thus ensuring community growth. GDT is the only performing arts organization in the Des Moines Metro area with a completely multicultural and multigenerational focus. GDT is an innovative creator in nearly every venture and gained a reputation for developing dynamic, diverse work that is original, exciting and unique and is a pioneer to provide training in the performing arts for communities of color in the Des Moines area. GDT seeks to collaborate and partner with organizations that serve low-income marginalized communities, to provide GDT’s ARTivism an Arts & Culture program, that includes SASI ( Summer Arts & Science Intensive) camp's objective is to empower, educate, and encourage young minds to explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math).

Member Duties : • VISTA will develop and promote community interest with those agencies that serve low-income marginalized communities; and also assist in negotiating contracts to implement GDT’s ARTivism program with them. • Help organize fund raising events, enlist volunteers and financial supporters. • Conduct grant research and assist in the application for grants . • The VISTA efforts will make a difference by promoting inclusiveness and create opportunities. For the underserved, low-income marginalized community. • Collect, retain, and report data to track program outreach, impact, and accountability in coordination with other program staff. • Assist in training and technical assistance to artists, arts leaders, and cultural organizations • Research field trends and patterns to inform resources and best practices to provide to artists, arts leaders and cultural organizations.
