*MTCC Summer Associate Fresh Rescue Community Kitchen

The Fresh Rescue Community Kitchen is jointly operated by the Boys and Girls Club of Cascade County, the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, and Alluvion Health. The Community Kitchen provides nutritional education and a fresh harvest of healthy goods to the Great Falls community. 46% of Great Falls Public School students qualify Free and Reduced Lunch, and the Community Kitchen works to educate young people about the importance of growing, preparing, and eating nutritious food while engaging them in the food creation process and providing them with healthy meals.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate will support the Fresh Rescue Community Kitchen in educating K-7 summer school students in growing, preparing, eating and processing their own fresh food for delivery to food insecure/low income youth and families. The member will facilitate the development and delivery of daily curriculum to students, including on the topics of growing food, cooking, sanitary food handling, and healthy exercise. They will participate in basic food preparation and cooking procedures at the Community Kitchen. They will support the community garden by practicing good gardening methods related to planting, composting, watering, pollinator support, etc.
