The AmeriCorps member serving at Loyola University will build organizational capacity to better interrupt the cycle of poverty by strengthening and building upon the relationship between Loyola Schools 2020 and New Field Primary School. Through this relationship, School 2020 Program at Loyola University will be able to increase opportunities for K-12 students in the Rogers Park community to graduate high school prepared for post-secondary options. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $542.22 in Cook County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to professional development and training opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at Loyola University will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member will build organizational capacity to engage parents of New Field students, identify and develop additional resources that can be committed to New Field, serve alongside New Field staff and volunteers to formalize sustainable volunteer roles in the school, identify unaddressed areas of need, and build collaborative relationships with other neighborhood schools and organizations.
