'21 Youth Program Summer Associate

The two VISTA Summer Associates will be supervised and supported by the Unit Directors at our Sequim and Port Angeles Clubs. As part of our regular staff team, they will work alongside our experienced youth development staff, with time set aside for planning, ongoing feedback and program adjustments, and program evaluation. Our Clubs are diverse and inclusive, providing a sanctuary for children who face bigotry and exclusion due to their ethnicity, gender or sexual identity, or physical and cognitive disabilities. We are a small, stable, and friendly organization that takes our commitment to the well-being and success of our employees and volunteers seriously. We have kept our doors open throughout the Covid-19 pandemic without a single instance of infection from participation in Club programs and services. We follow rigorously all state and local health and safety guidelines and best practices: screening everyone who enters our facilities for fever and flu symptoms, frequent handwashing and surface disinfection, universal mask-wearing, and maintenance of 6-feet social distancing.

Member Duties : We seek two VISTA Summer Associates, with one Associate serving in each of our Clubhouses, which are located in Sequim and Port Angeles. Our Summer Associates will participate in two important programs: Summer Learning Recovery & Loss Prevention; and Child Nutrition. We expect our Summer Associate will help develop opportunities for one-on-one tutoring and school work help, as well as running our library, computer lab, and/or other program areas within the Club that deepen academic enrichment opportunities. Our Summer Associates will also help plan, implement, and document our food programs and may assist with the supervision of our teen food service interns. Each day, the Associates will be able to hone their skills in providing youth with the four Essential E’s of project-based learning: engagement, expression, evaluation, and exhibition.
