'21 COVID-19 Public Health Summer Associate
 
 
 
Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management works to prepare the county and its communities for hazards and disasters that affect the Olympic Peninsula and our area. We also serve the City of Port Townsend by interlocal agreement. We plan for, administer, and execute a comprehensive program of disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery according to the requirements of the law. The primary objectives of the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management are Public Education, Coordination, Field Operations, and Activation.

Member Duties : Our Summer Associates will assist the Jefferson Department of Emergency Management (DEM) in Port Townsend, WA in recruiting, training, engaging, and retaining volunteers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. DEM is supporting a vaccination site lead by Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, and plans for another in various location in the community. We hope associates can assist us in the coordination of these critical volunteer resources in a few key areas: 1. outreach and recruitment (find more and the right fit) 2. training (prepping them for success and meeting requirements) 3. engagement (putting them to work in areas where help is needed and where they can succeed) 4. retention (ensuring they had a quality volunteer experience and will hopefully remain as a volunteer post pandemic response)
