CCMA Bowie Bold: Feed the Need
The Bowie State University AmeriCorps VITSA initiative will strengthen our current, robust mitigation plan by extending opportunities and resources available to our targeted student population. Obtaining volunteer resources through the VISTA program would be part of a 3 year initiative, primarily focused on supporting students who have expressed (either officially or in conversation with community members) poverty-related concerns, to include socio economic factors, low-income, and other factors affecting marginalized and underprivileged youths.

Member Duties : The VISTA volunteers will play an integral role in educating the Bowie State University community; expand service from the Nutrition Lounge; and increase the visibility of Bowie State University anti-poverty and food insecurity efforts currently dispersed throughout the Division of Student Affairs. The volunteer should expect to develop an expertise on the support services at Bowie State University to assist students in need. Workshop targeting students and the Division of Student Affairs will be the primary focus. Programs will be implemented by partnering with Student Engagement, the Office of Residence Life, the Henry Wise Wellness Center, and other departments. The goal is to develop resources, materials, and annual events that these departments will continue to implement and expand.
