2021 Research and Community Engagement Summer Associate

NeighborScapes is a non-profit organization with a mission to strengthen the physical and social fabric of neighborhoods, and to create a covenant of care, enrichment and development for young people; and we are currently seeking a AmeriCorps Summer Associate to support us as we continue to grow and build community on the south side of Chicago. This summer associate position is for a Research and Community Engagement Associate to conduct research on best practices for improving our communications and fundraising processes and systems. Through this work, NeighborScapes will be able to increase its capacity to deliver high quality programming and better show how the work is being accomplished. The day-to-day expectations for this position will include researching potential donors, assisting in maintaining current partnerships, creating communication templates to be used across NeighborScapes social media and website, and researching the tax status for different properties in Englewood. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, work remotely with guidance, be a self-starter, manage professional relationships, be a critical thinker, an excellent writer, and a person who is excited to support a small organization’s growth. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps positions.
