'21 VIP Community Engagement VISTA- The City of Spartanburg
 
 
 
The VIP program offers a unique approach to AmeriCorps VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other AmeriCorps VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. Member Duties : This position is part of the AmeriCorps VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As the Community Engagement VISTA at the City of Spartanburg, you will collaborate with City staff and community partners to build an engagement strategy addressing homelessness and related collective impact initiatives surrounding financial stability. You will help develop the Office of Equity and Inclusion and create a city-wide racial equity framework around GARE and the city's internal process. You will also increase community awareness and engagement around various city programs and initiatives including but limited to entrepreneurship, procurement, and business development. The AmeriCorps VISTA will create a comprehensive equity plan, including a racial equity component, collaborate to develop a master plan for a low-income neighborhood, and conduct community outreach designed to increase engagement around workforce development and entrepreneurship.
