‘21 VIP - Veteran Services VISTA - UWS

This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As an AmeriCorps VISTA at Upstate Warrior Solution (UWS), you will help reach more veterans through partnerships with other service agencies, and strengthen partner relationships through regular communication. Additionally, you will track outreach and program events in a shared calendar and on social media, and help the UWS Development Team plan and coordinate at least one fundraising event each year using Canva and other methods. The member will also develop a productive volunteer and mentor program by researching best practices, creating and analyzing surveys, tracking volunteer hours, and utilizing social media and newsletter to increase communications throughout the year. The VIP program offers a unique approach to VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. Benefits include: monthly housing stipend, doubled food stamps at the farmer's market, housing referrals, household & personal care supplies provided through the Gifts in Kind Center, ongoing professional development, reimbursement for service-related travel, discounted gym membership, professional mentoring, and more!
