‘21 VIP - Community Engagement VISTA - EMERGE
 
 
 
This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As a VISTA at EMERGE Family Therapy Center and Teaching Clinic, you will sustainably increase utility of operational systems, increase public awareness of EMERGE, and increase internal and external awareness and programming around the mental health needs of BIPOC members of the community. The VIP program offers a unique approach to VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will improve health outcomes of low-income, underinsured children, adults and families by building capacity of EMERGE Family Therapy Center and Teaching Clinic to provide increasingly more affordable mental and behavioral health care to individuals, couples and families who could not otherwise access mental health care services. The VISTA will increase operational effectiveness by utilizing existing tools to meet the needs of various stakeholders to aid in the decision-making processes related to the mission of the organization and building an external network to explore opportunities to increase mental health services in the community specifically around underserved BIPOC populations.
