'21 VIP - Community & Volunteer Outreach VISTA - CCP

This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. As an AmeriCorps VISTA with Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas, you will help increase the number of volunteers across the Carolinas and build effective volunteer recruitment, orientation, and retention processes. You will also help make the Kidz in Lids campaign a force for childhood cancer awareness & support by increasing engaging new partners, planning events, and developing a marketing plan to spread the word. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to create effective operating procedures for the families accessing Gift in Kind items such as medications, household items, cleaning supplies, and diapers. The VIP program offers a unique approach to AmeriCorps VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will help improve access to care for children battling cancer by engaging more volunteers, building peer support through peer-family events, generating awareness through the CCP Kidz in Lids program and implementing effective procedures that will create sustainable, long-lasting solutions to ensure children access to care, and families not falling into the downward spiral of poverty.
