"This AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Initiative for College Access, Retention, and Excellence (ICARE) program will promote the success of undergraduate students of color from college access programs while monitoring the academic progress of ICARE students to identify areas of need and assess effectiveness of program; ensure their self-efficacy and well-being; building community and cultivating sense of empowerment and researching best practices for cohort-based, holistic initiatives for students from underrepresented communities, documenting all ICARE activities, and preparing a final report with recommendations. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $1.027.88 in Middlesex county. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide fitness center passes, access to free or reduced courses, a public transportation pass, and access to professional development & training opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Initiative for College Access, Retention, and Excellence (ICARE) program will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Initiative for College Access, Retention, and Excellence (ICARE) program will build capacity by collecting data and documenting processes and best practices for long-term solutions to poverty and racism by providing underrepresented students from college access programs with the tools, skills, and confidence they need to excel in and graduate from college, prepared for career or graduate school.
