SerVermont - GMEDC, Outreach Coordinator

Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC) is one of Vermont’s 12 Regional Development Corporations, private non-profits serving as local liaison for the state Agency of Commerce and Community Development. Our mission is to preserve the viability and vitality of the towns and villages in our district. GMEDC works in collaboration with Federal and State agencies and 30 town governments to improve cultural and economic conditions for citizens of east-central Vermont. This area is comprised of portions of Orange and Windsor Counties – the Upper Valley / Dartmouth Region – along the White and Connecticut Rivers and is home to a stunning landscape, active outdoor scene, and lively cultural calendar. Many towns in this region have high populations of low and moderate-income families. Reflecting these demographics, GMEDC assists individuals, community groups, and businesses to meet housing, childcare, healthcare, education, permitting, employment, and capital needs. GMEDC also provides real estate planning, grant making assistance and disaster support with 0% loans. Much of our work is done in collaboration and/or partnership with area leaders in municipal government, business, and community development, enabling provision of more comprehensive technical assistance via collective effort.

Member Duties : The VISTA will conduct outreach, expanding GMEDC's ability to identify, inform, and support communities within our region and across the state. To do so, the VISTA member will build on the current GMEDC outreach and data collection systems as well as identify and develop new outreach tools such as a CRM, an upgraded web site, and additional social media applications. As Vermont, like much of the country, recovers from the impact of COVID-19, the need for programs that improve and support inclusive community engagement as well as economic development and innovation is greater than ever. This service role will allow the VISTA to be an important part of the rebuilding process of restoring our economic, social and physical well-being as we create a resilient community for our future.
