Moorhead Adult Basic Education - VISTA @Vista (LitMN)
 
 
 
Moorhead Adult Education (ABE) is a mid-sized, ethnically diverse program with a team that is eager to assist adult learners in enhancing their connection to education. This AmeriCorps VISTA member will work with the team in developing programming to access Chromebooks, Powerschool, and engage in Pre-K -12 activities to maximize learning for the whole family. The program site is located at Vista Center for Education on the edge of the Fargo/Moorhead area, a welcoming community of 250,000+ people with many colleges, activities, and events. Community Education and the Early Childhood Family Education programs are co-located in the building, affording multiple opportunities to connect. The ideal candidate for this position brings a love of people, ability to connect well with others, and a passion for creative problem solving. There will be countless opportunities for free professional development during service ranging from within the program to Hamline University's ATLAS program to the Minnesota Department of Education.

Member Duties : The position will review and modify lending protocols, materials, and distance learning platforms around the program-owned Chromebooks that are borrowed out to adult learners within the ABE program. Along with this, the Literacy Leader will continue to build and grow additional partnerships with the district and community partners (that were developed in year one of the project) to further engage ABE families in the Pre-K-12 school system and literacy activities. *Additional benefit: Development; Community Ed classes; Connection to community services for food support. *Position is part of the Literacy Leadership AmeriCorps VISTA program of Literacy Minnesota(LitMN).
