HomeFront Summer Associates VISTA - Camp Counselor

For many years, HomeFront has run Camp Mercer, a day camp that keeps our area’s poorest kids safe and engaged while giving them a summer of social, intellectual, and personal enrichment. We anticipate running a 2022 summer program with as much in-person interaction as the pandemic will permit and lots of virtual engagement. The Summer Associates will be a critical part of bringing the Summer Program to life by planning in-person and virtual experiences of a lifetime for homeless and at-risk HomeFront kids. Children’s Program Summer Associates will utilize a trauma informed care approach to walk alongside campers. They have an understanding of challenges faced by homeless children and want to dedicate their summer to alleviating those challenges. They will serve as a role model, an advisor, a confidant, and a supervisor to the campers. The Associates will be directly responsible for all campers in their assigned group, and indirectly responsible for all campers within the camp. The Associates will assist in creating a safe, fun and educational experience and active devotion to the well being and happiness of each camper.
