*MTCC Summer Associate - Missoula Food Bank&Community Center

The Missoula Food Bank and Community Center is an anti-racist, LGBTQ2S+ ally organization which leads the movement to end hunger through advocacy, volunteerism and healthy food for all. Missoula Food Bank & Community Center’s summertime meal programs fill an important gap in the nutrition and wellness of socioeconomically disadvantaged children. 55.4% of children in Missoula County are living in poverty. Understanding that so many of our local kids are growing up facing the threats of food insecurity, community action is necessary to ensure every child has an equal opportunity to learn, grow, develop and succeed. At our open sites this summer, over 400 youth will have access to a healthy, nutritious meal every day.

Member Duties : The VISTA Summer Associates will support the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center in providing meals and educational activities to kids by supporting daily meal preparation and serving meals at open meal sites in Missoula and surrounding communities. The members will support the Food Bank’s volunteers who assist in meal preparation and distribution, and complete daily paperwork to record meal program activities and impacts. The members will develop engaging, educational, and fun meal site activities by coordinating with local partner organizations. The members will provide additional support, such as grocery delivery for meal site visitors, and increasing community awareness about meal sites and issues of hunger in the community.
