MTCC Summer Associate - Gallatin Valley YMCA

The Gallatin Valley YMCA (GVYMCA) is a cause-driven inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurture the potential of every child and teen, improve our community's health and well-being, and by giving back and providing support to our neighbors. With the help of the YMCA's financial assistance program, no child or family is turned away from participating due to the inability to pay. Their belief is that by opening our doors and bringing people together through participation in quality programs, they will ultimately not only enrich the lives of each individual, but also strengthen the foundation of the community. The Gallatin Valley YMCA addresses poverty by providing local children with the opportunity to be exposed to STEM careers through engaging activities, field trips and guest speakers, they will become aware of the opportunities available to them in their local region. Out of the 54,013 people living in Bozeman, 17.8% of the population is living in poverty, and out of the 10,558 people living in Belgrade, 6.83% are living in poverty according to the 2020 Census Bureau data. We seek to address the cycle of poverty by introducing children to a wide variety of opportunities available to them after K-12 grade education so they will be able to take interest in and pursue STEM related careers.
