MTCC Summer Associate - YWCA Missoula

YWCA Missoula is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The mission of GUTS! (girls using their strengths) program is to support girls and gender diverse youth in discovering their strengths, developing their leadership skills and using their voice to create community change through mentoring, small group discussion, skilled trades workshop and outdoor adventures. Their new program, Youth Services, is dedicated to providing therapeutic and recreational opportunities to youth residing in the Family Housing Center and Pathways Domestic Violence Shelter. The Summer Associate will have responsibilities in both the GUTS! and Youth Services Program.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate placed with the YWCA will teach, lead and mentor program participants ages 9-19 in STEM-related educational activities and outdoor leadership. The Summer Associate will be working to support the existing GUTS! Summer Outdoor Adventure program by planning, implementing and evaluating our new day camp model created to accommodate Covid-safe programming. They will also assist in implementing youth programming for the Missoula Family Housing Center and Pathways Domestic Violence Shelter . The Summer Associate will also collaborate with community partners to expand Youth Services and GUTS! curriculum to include STEM educational activities. The Summer Associate will work with YWCA staff to integrate climate change and place-based education, including Indigenous knowledge and history, into the GUTS! summer outdoor trips and Youth Services program offerings.
