MTCC Summer Associate - Zootown Arts Community Center
The Zootown Arts Community Center is a nonprofit art center providing accessible arts experiences for all through education, exhibitions, and events. The ZACC's summer program aids in increasing graduation rates for Missoula youth by serving low-income students and by fostering frequent arts participation, which leads to improved grades and standardized test scores, reduced dropout rates and boredom in school, and a healthier self-image (Catterall, 1997). These results correlate to increased civic engagement, and the National Endowment for the Arts reports students of the arts are more than twice as likely to volunteer in their communities than are students with little arts participation.
