Franklin Park Zoo Outreach & Research Associate
 
 
 
This project serves low-income individuals living in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Jamaica Plain, specifically young adults and children living in poverty. The VISTA member will develop and maintain Franklin Park Zoo’s capacity to eradicate poverty and conserve wildlife by working with 2 other VISTA members and Zoo staff to build relationships, develop methods to engage, and recruit residents and service providers in these communities. You will be recruiting these individuals to participate in the co-design of new educational and workforce development programming at Franklin Park Zoo.

Member Duties : The Franklin Park Zoo AmeriCorps VISTA Program is a full-time VISTA Program for organizations and individuals interested in developing lasting solutions to the problems of poverty and environmental degradation across seven communities in Boston. As one member of a 3-VISTA-member team, you will be working directly with Franklin Park Zoo staff to design the methods used in and collect information from a series of focus groups, listening sessions, surveys, and participatory asset mapping sessions to build relationships with and begin a two-way dialogue with low-income individuals living in Boston. You will also foster relationships with Antioch University Faculty and Graduate Fellows, Zoo staff and administrators, and the other 2 VISTAs as your work as a team to help recruit residents and service providers for these events.
