Campus Compact VISTA North Central College, IL
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps member serving at North Central College will support a campus initiative intended to help low-income students secure career-building job placements. As we launch all-college internship and community-engaged learning requirements, the member will conduct ongoing needs assessments with community partner organizations to identify opportunities for low-income students to meet these internship requirements. The AmeriCorps member will leverage events and existing partnerships to reinvigorate community relationships, improve outreach, and facilitate connections between campus community and organizations focused on poverty-reduction in the broader community. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $575.40 in DuPage County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide housing (on or off campus), professional development (conferences), access to professional development & training opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at North Central College will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at North Central College will build capacity by expanding a campus initiative intended to help low-income students secure career- building, on-campus and off-campus job placements. As we launch all-college internship and service learning requirements, we will draw on data from pilot programs to develop strategies to ensure that low-income students are able to participate fully in these significant and time-intensive experiences.
