The AmeriCorps member serving at Northwestern University (NWU) will provide support services to low-income, first-generation students to foster identity development and navigate campus resources to build community. Through campus-wide partnerships, Student Enrichment Services (SES) strives to build an inclusive Northwestern community that is welcoming, supportive, and accessible for all students. The AmeriCorps member will building capacity through the creation of a system to better understand food accessibility, analyze research to learn more about the impact of SES on the low-income, first-gen student community, and assessing and developing the communication strategy for the office. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $542.22 in Cook County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide housing (on or off campus), professional development (conferences), food/grocery gift cards, access to professional development & training opportunities The AmeriCorps member serving at Northwestern University will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at Northwestern University will build capacity by assessing and evaluating management systems to track and monitor food accessibility on campus, developing a virutal volunteer training for food pantry, developing an awareness campaign of the first-generation community on campus, creating a communication strategy for increased student engagement, and identifying and reporting on opportunities for additional resources for the Student Enrichment Services office.
