The AmeriCorps member serving at Student Leadership and Civic Engagement at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), the AmeriCorps member will create a bridge between university departments/colleges and nonprofit agencies in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods, through the development of a centralized community partner database. Part of this process will include outreach to departments within all 16 UIC colleges, as well as to known community partners. Assisted by a committee of campus and community partners, the AmeriCorps member will develop and implement assessments that measure UIC impact on nonprofits and the communities they serve, emphasizing educational needs in low-income communities. The member will develop new partnerships with additional organizations, especially in Chicago neighborhoods that face disproportionate hardships and with limited access to UIC. The AmeriCorps member will develop the Galaxy Digital service platform and train community organizations and internal partners for use. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $542.22 in Cook County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to professional development & training opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at University of Illinois at Chicago will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) will build capacity by developing a centralized community partner database. Enhance current partnerships by assessing UIC impact on community organizations and the communities they serve, including gathering data on additional needs, with an emphasis on educational needs in low-income communities. Develop new partnerships with additional community organizations, especially those in Chicago neighborhoods that have faced disproportionate hardships and that have limited access to UIC currently. Create annual assessment processes to maintain updated data and communication with partners, and to better understand impact of partnerships. Through the development of this database, enhance transparency and communication between community partners and the university, as well as community partner access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for the communities they serve.
