The AmeriCorps member serving at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) will build capacity by identifying barriers that low income and minority students face and will work with NWTC staff and faculty to develop strategies for students to experiences High-Impact Practices (HIPs). Supported by other staff, the member will develop strategies to increase HIP access among priority student populations. The AmeriCorps member will attend student orientation and student success events to engage students, as well as coordinate the develop of promotional and just-in-time resources. They will engage students and community partners to ensure that priority student populations access and benefit from quality, community-based experiential learning opportunities, while community partners will receive member support in hosting diverse students and increasing hosting capacity. The biweekly living allowance for this position is 513.94 in Brown County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide a gym pass and access to professional development & training opportunities The AmeriCorps member serving at NWTC will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at Northeast Wisconsin Techincal College will build capacity by developing a student tracking system that allows the college to identify which High Impact Practice initiatives students from low-income, racial and ethnic minority, and first-generation groups are accessing. This system will also provide details about which community partners these priority student populations are engaging through High Impact Practices, as well as how those engagements are supporting student success and retention. The member will also engage in data-gathering and focus-group engagement with low-income students and community partners to ensure that the systems and High Impact Practices processes are accessible and equitable in design and delivery. Finally, the member will collaborate with college teams to increase awareness and access to High Impact Practices among low-income, minority, and first-generation student populations.
