Normandale Community College is a vibrant, exciting, and diverse community that helps students to succeed and realize their potential. Our mission is to advance individuals’ intellectual, career, and personal development by providing outstanding teaching and support. We serve over 14,000 students across our region through both on-campus and online learning, as well as having robust support services available to students. The position will reside within the Department of Student Life and will be supervised by the Director of Student Life. The goals of this position are to increase low-income and underrepresented students’ access to health, wellness, and basic needs resources on campus by increasing student access to food and healthcare resources, in addition to expanding campus awareness and student involvement in the Student Resource Center. This work will include establishing a food rescue program in collaboration with campus and community partners to address student access to food, establishing an ongoing program or partnership to address student needs for healthcare, increasing awareness of the Student Resource Center through student training opportunities, and building assessment structures to support the work of the Student Resource Center moving forward and build capacity around process improvement to serve students better. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***

Member Duties : This position will establish a food rescue program in collaboration with campus and community partners to address student needs for food. They will identify partners, develop and launch the program, and assess impact. They will also establish an ongoing program or partnership to address student needs for healthcare. This will include managing a student healthcare survey, advancing a proposal for services, and engaging the campus community to build capacity and knowledge. They will increase awareness of the campus Student Resource Center through media, presentations, and trainings to the campus community, in addition to building a student Ambassador program to leverage peer-to-peer connections. Lastly, they will build capacity around assessment of the impact of these activities and the impact on students of the Student Resource Center.
