Campus Compact VISTA University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, WI
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay will develop, assess, and expand our Civic Scholars program which pairs a fall learning-community course, where students visit important civic, corporate, and educational stakeholders in the community, with a supported spring internship. Low-income students are not always able to take advantage of opportunities to engage in the community, which are known to help students succeed in education, the workforce, and as citizens. The AmeriCorps member will build capacity to identify and overcome these barriers. They will measure the program outcomes for low-income students in three ways: increasing retention, persistence to graduation, and fostering the growth of civic skills, habits, and identity. They will also seek to make the program sustainable both in terms of design and seeking outside resources. Finally, they will develop new programming, support the growth of the office, and expand related professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, and students. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $513.94 in Brown County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide fitness center passes, professional development conferences, and funding for books & other supplies. The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person training including overnight retreats throughout their service year.
